Another singer on the Saregamapa 2007 express train that absolutely BLEW ME AWAY, was Mr Mussarat Abbas or 'Mussarat Fateh Ali Khan' as some of his fans like to refer to him as!

Mussarat Abbas is a P-H-E-N-O-M-E-N-A-L singer who hails from Lahore, Pakistan!!!

Date of Birth: August 15th 1981

Father's Name: Fida Hussain

Mother's Name: Ruqaya Begum

Siblings: Mussarat has four brothers and three sisters.

Since the passing of Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, there has notably been a massive void in the musical world and when Mussarat Abbas made his grand entrance on Saregamapa 2007 in Himesh's 'Rock' Gharana, it appears that this void had partially, been filled.  I have not heard a voice this magical and divine in years!!!

Mussarat was one of the only singers in SRGMP 2007, who could capture my attention in less than 5 seconds of singing, because his voice was simply magnificent!  He had his moments on the Saregamapa 2007 sets though, he was easily the most argued over star in the early days.  He was heavily criticised for being a restricted vocal singer, especially by Vishal who felt that a singer should be more experimental and versatile.  (I also agreed with this opinion - In fact it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Mussarat was coached by Vishal-Shekhar!)  That would have been a really great experiment!

It is sad that I don't have a contact from Mussarat's camp to be able to keep you updated with his latest news, but, I am trying my level best to get hold of his contact details, so that we can keep this page updated...but, until then, I thought the least I could do is; dedicate a 'Mussarat page' to him on my website!

I can't explain the magic of Mussarat - I just feel that same Godly divinity, which I feel when I listen to Raja Hasan Sagar and although Mussarat was vocally restricted to a certain degree, he outshone most of his contemporaries on a regular basis and I think that because he was purely on the show (just to sing) and not to get involved in the politics of it all, his talent was often overlooked!  I will never forget when he sang; 'Sanwre' - that was a killer moment.  I don't know if you all agree with me, but, I think that towards the end of the contest, some of the songs that Himesh allowed Mussarat to sing, were abysmal.  They didn't suit his voice at all and once Aneek came into the picture, I felt that Mussarat was just left flailing in the background...

I also think that it is very unfortunate that Mussarat wasn't offered a record deal at the end of the show, but, that is the harsh reality of fickle, reality based TV shows.  The sad truth is that, most of the contestants are not even going to be remembered in the days/years to come, as the focus will be on 'the next big winner,' so, it is important that we keep the memory of Mussarat alive!!!

Anyway, let's forget about who did what and who wronged who, because when Mussarat wanted to shine, he did it with sheer class and brilliance, this is evident in his phenomenal track record of performances, that are showcased below!! 

When asked to recall one unfortunate incident since entering the music industry, this was Mussarat's response:

"What happened on the sets of 'Ek Se Badhkar Ek,' with Abhijeet Da." 

For those of you who are unaware, Abhijeet refused to judge Mussarat, based on the principle that he doesn't agree with Foreign singers, entering Indian song contests, as he believes that there are already enough struggling singers within India who deserve a chance to enter such contests.  I personally don't agree with his foolish way of thinking, as a great singer to me, is a great singer regardless, it doesn't matter where they hail from and what Religion they are....(EG) What Mussarat has to offer to the world, is his own style of magic.  Different singers have different abilities and there is enough room in the world for talent, but, unfortunately we have more ignorance, than common sense in this world.

Mussarat's response to this clear brunt of ignorance was; "But I don't let such incidents affect me."

My message to Mussarat is:

"I love your sense of pride and respect Mussarat.

And Allah doesn't discriminate where you are from, so why do people?"...

Please support this young talent in the making...because it would be heartbreaking to see him going back, to being a struggling singer once again and I am sure that you all agree with me, when I say that; "We all want Mussarat, to enjoy his biryani's hahaha!!!"
